Sophie Elworthy

Psychotherapist

Sophie Elworthy is trained as a relational, psychodynamic psychotherapist and is experienced in both long or short-term psychotherapeutic practice. Along with a focus on development, attachment, relationship and trauma informed theories, Sophie has a particular interest in utilising mindfulness and self-compassion based techniques which are grounded in neurobiological scientific research.

Experiences from both our past and present can impact our ability to feel fulfilled, confident and creative, which in turn can affect how we relate to other people. Sophie assists her clients to identify and make sense of struggles they may experience within their relationships, and/or with their own sense of self-worth. Through this exploration, she helps her clients learn skills and strategies to attain a sense emotional equilibrium, peace and stability.

Sophie provides a warm non-judgemental space, and works with honesty, collaboration and open-mindedness to support her clients to gain insight and self-acceptance. She walks beside her clients to help bring clarity to patterns of behaviour and thinking that may no longer serve them. Sophie helps clients to identify and communicate their needs and create healthy boundaries. This fosters their sense of authenticity and supports them to develop a deeper sense of purpose, enjoyment, creativity and resilience in their lives.

Sophie works holistically and respectfully in exploring aspects of her clients identities, both as individuals and in the context of family, community and culture.
